The global youth index has found the Britain is the fourth best country to live in for young people. The survey tested different variables such as education, health, employment and political factors. Germany is rated as the best place to live and the US came 23rd. While the worst place to live were countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
This demonstrates despite the hardships that young people face, Britain remains an excellent area to live. However, Britain scored lower on youth and well being at number 39. The report stresses despite the opportunities that countries provide more investments is needed due to increasing levels of youth unemployment and lack of political voice.
This report demonstrates the prospects that are available in Britain, but also that further government initiative is also needed. Young people are an important resource and have skills such in technological innovation that is more important than ever in a growing technological based industry. However, they still suffer from the financial incapability to move where their skills will be best used.
The government should also make improving youth wellbeing a priority. This report marks good quality life for young people in Britain, but more improvements are needed especially regarding the slowing economy and its prospects on young people gaining employment.
