PLANNED cuts to mental health services will put many lives in danger, a trade union has warned. Unison has called on health commissioners to reverse plans to slash the budget for child and adolescent mental health by £352,000.
The union said the district’s three clinical commissioning groups (CCG) were not planning to renew a contract which ends in April. Regional organiser Gary Cleaver said: “Vulnerable young people will be at far greater risk of self-harm, suicide, fatal addiction and growing inequality in the care they can expect.
“The lack of early support for young people leads to pressure on primary care services, acute hospital admissions and the police service which will be left to try to pick up the pieces.” thetelegraphandargus.co.uk
