Private tutors ‘must face criminal records checks’

All self-employed tutors should be legally required to have a criminal records check before they can offer private lessons to children in the UK, children’s charity the NSPCC says. There are warnings from Ofsted that further education providers are “falling short in protecting learners from risk of extremism”. The education watchdog has been examining how well colleges implement the Prevent counter-extremism strategy.
