Thousands of schoolchildren have taken part in the biggest political debate the country has seen. The 16 and 17-year-old first-time voters were drawn from 50 schools across Scotland to question politicians from the Yes Scotland and Better Together campaigns. Unemployment rates for youth are invariably higher than those for adults. According to a new survey, the UK’s cultural offering is the country’s most appealing feature for young people visiting from abroad. More than a third of 18 to 34 year olds from Brazil, China, Germany India and the US that were surveyed said that culture “particularly contributed” to making the UK attractive. According to a survey commissioned by the housing and homelessness charity Shelter, two million working young adults still living with their parent. The survey found that a lack of affordable housing was the single biggest reason that so many young adults are unable to fly the nest. It found that nearly half (48%) of 250 young adults who live with their parents said they do so because they cannot afford to rent or buy their own home. It named nation’s “clipped wing” hotspots
