Prince Charles to launch youth community campaign

The Prince of Wales is to launch an initiative to encourage young people to do more work in the community in a bid to tackle gang violence. The prince will launch the Step Up 2 Serve initiative at Buckingham Palace this week. He will be joined by Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and opposition leader Ed Miliband, plus 50 young people, to start a pledge campaign called #iwill.Read more

More than 950,000 young people still unemployed

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) think-tank found that the traditional link between youth unemployment and economic growth has been broken. The jobless rate among under-25s is now 3.74 times the adult rate, up from 3.5 times the adult rate a year ago. More than 950,000 young people are now unemployed and almost a third (30 per cent) of them have been looking for work for more than a year. Read more

Almost two thirds (60%) of UK employers feel the UK government does not do enough to support skills education. Nearly three quarters (72%) said they viewed vocational qualifications as essential for preparing young people for work. Skills & careers event for youth in London

Skills London 2013 is the jobs and careers event for young people across the capital with focus on visitors aged 15–24. This is two day event at ExCeL London and will provide free information and advice on training and employment opportunities.
